This information is on my external teaching page (in German).

Summer Term 2011

I am teaching four courses:

  • didactics of geometry (two courses in didactics, Lehramt für Gymnasien),
  • mathematics with equipment (one course in didactics, Lehramt für Grund-, Haupt-, Realschule),
  • the mathematics behind selected mathematical models (one course in mathematics, Lehramt für Gymnasien)

Moreover, I am teaching a tutorial session on elementary algebra and number theory.

Summer Term 2010

I am giving two seminars: Representation Theory and Galois Theory.

Winter Term 2009/10

I am giving a lecture on mathematics for computer scientists (part 3).
I also provide lecture notes which will be updated weekly.

Winter Term 2008/09

I was Frank Schreyer's teaching assistant for his lecture on mathematics for computer scientists (part 1).
See our teaching page on our university website for details.

Summer Term 2008

This summer term, I spent as a visiting professor at the university of Erlangen. There, I gave a lecture on foundations and applications of dynamic geometry (4 hours + tutorial classes) and a seminar on algebraic plane curves.

Dynamic Geometry: Foundations and Applications

Lecture Notes for this course as PDF (in German).
Attention! These lecture notes can only be read together with W. Barth's lecture notes from 2004. Frequently, we refer to this text for illustrating pictures, proofs, other details, etc.
Date and time: Monday, 12.15-14.00 and Tuesday, 10.15-12.00. Kleiner Hörsaal.
Requirements: Linear Algebra, Analysis.

Content: Geometric approach to euclidian, affine and projective geometry. Using this knowledge to explain phenomena in dynamic geometry such as determinism versus continuity, and Cayley Klein metrics to allow a unified metric concept for euclidian, spherical and other geometries.

I gave the lecture (4 hours per week) and the tutorials (2 hours per week). See my website at the university of Erlangen for details: http://www.mi.uni-erlangen.de/~labs/

Seminar: Plane Algebraic Curves

This was a seminar for second year students. It was thus on a basic level, discussing plane curves which arrise as loci of ruler and compass constructions.

See my website at the university of Erlangen for details: http://www.mi.uni-erlangen.de/~labs/

Winter Term 2007/08

I gave a lecture on foundations and applications of dynamic geometry (2 hours per week) together with tutorials (2 groups at 2 hours per week each).

Dynamic Geometry: Foundations and Applications

Date and time: Wednesday, 16.15-18.00, Hörsaal IV, E 4.2.
Requirements: Linear Algebra, Analysis.

Content: Axiomatic Approach to affine and projective geometry; introduction to plane curves which arrise as a locus of ruler and compass constructions, including an introduction to their singularities, easy cases of the Bezout theorem.

I gave the lecture and the tutorials (2 hours per week). See the teaching page on our university website for details: http://www.math.uni-sb.de/ag/schreyer/

Summer Term 2007

I gave a lecture on algebraic topology (see below).
